APPGAP responds to parliamentary inquiry

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Adoption and Permanence (APPGAP) has responded to a parliamentary inquiry into the children’s social care workforce in England.

The Education Select Committee is gathering views on “what is needed from social work, and by social workers, to ensure that children and their families are given the best possible help and protection”.

You can find out more about the committee’s inquiry here.

In responding, APPGAP called upon evidence gathered via its own inquiry earlier this year and published in its Investing in Families report. The group’s response focuses on the capacity and ability of social workers to:

·         Intervene early to help, support and protect children and their families

·         Work with other professionals who play a role in the care of children within the education and health systems
